Whisper
High Falls is one of the biggest waterfalls in my state. By some standards itâs not that dramatic, but I found something more powerful far from its highest point where the roar of water made conversation almost impossible. Sitting down river from most of the other hikers, I found a quiet spot for lunch and just below you could see and hear the water flowing over small rocks. It wasnât loud, but it was calming, soothing, and a bit mesmerizing. I have learned through painting that powerful is not always about the dramatic or the size of the work, but about heart and mind. This small mixed media on deep wood panel is highly textured and incorporates limestone paste, acrylic paint, charcoal, and pastels.
